psd2css Online is now using jQuery

Submitted by shaun on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 02:43.

psd2css Online was recently updated to take advantage of the jQuery javascript library. jQuery is a fast, concise, JavaScript Library that simplifies how you traverse HTML documents, handle events, perform animations, and add Ajax interactions to your web pages. psd2css Online will generate code that uses the jQuery library from some of the Layer Naming Conventions that you define in your PSD file. When you use psd2css Online, all required javascript will be automatically included in the HTML file and the jQuery.js file will be included in the zip for your download. It's all automatic - you don't even have to know it's there.

We looked into using the Prototype library as well and decided to go with the smaller jQuery library that seemed better suited for our requirements. But if you're going to be adding some of your own code and are looking for that object oriented flavor that Prototype.js offers, it's possible to use both - there is documentation that shows you how on the jQuery website.

The jQuery website has lots of information about the library, documentation, tutorials and reference to books on jQuery:

Feel free to create your page with psd2css Online and the jQuery code it generates. Then if you would like, you can even add your own jQuery code to make your pages do even more!

Note: This feature is in Beta so you must be registered to get jQuery integration. Registration and use of psd2css Oline is free.

Have fun!
