Now you can build a Drupal Theme in Photoshop, name some layers for the content that Drupal will provide, convert the PSD file to a fully functional Drupal (version 6.x) Theme, copy it into your existing Drupal install and it works.

Drupal is an amazing CMS (Content Management System) with tons of features right out of the box and thousands more available as modules you download and install to your Drupal website. Drupal is available for free here:
http://drupal.org

You can define layers by naming them exactly (the whole name, not just the portions that start with underscore) as 'left_drupal' for the left column content, 'content_drupal' for the main content section, 'right_drupal' for the right column content, 'primarylinks_drupal' for the primary links menu items and 'secondarylinks_drupal' for the secondary links menu items.

If you have feedback about what it should do, what it shouldn't do, or anything else, please drop me an email. Thanks.

Here is the first working example:

I had a brilliant failure

I had a brilliant failure using wiki in the classroom. I had some hopeful ideas about the potential of collaborative document editing in a group-learning situation. Visions of ‘negotiating meaning’, ‘knowledge construction’ and ‘student-to-student interaction’ swam through my head

This post is exactly what I am interested. keep up the good work.

tutorial

I have done exactly what was shown with the psd file that you have provided for us. It will still just show the colors not allowing for anything to be done which requires me to delete the theme and choose another one. i have tested with other downloaded themes to make sure everything is working properly and it works so i'm not sure whats going wrong.

Hi obstacle - Were you logged

Hi obstacle -

Were you logged in and within your first 2 weeks free when you made the conversion?

no text visible

hi, i tried the psd2css theme for drupal 6.12 and drupal 6.14 as it is shown in the tutorial. Unfortenately i can see only the backgroundimage of the layers (layer 0 to ...), but no content inside. The links and the sitename are also not visible. What could the problem be?
thanks

Hi Tinio - I think you

Hi Tinio -

I think you probably weren't logged in either. There is a warning when you do a conversion that you weren't logged in when you made the conversion. It will still complete - but only basically do slicing if you aren't logged in. To get all the cool Drupal functionality you need to be logged in and have a current account (in your first 2 weeks free or have a subscription).

Thanks.

no content visible

hi,
i tried psd2cssonline for a drupal theme, which is a very nice tool. unfortenately i cannot manage to see any content in my site- i took the working example from here and made all the steps of the video tutorial.
my site is perfect- but no links and no content at all is visible. i switched between drupal 6.16 and drupal 6.12, but no difference-
what could the problem be??

grazie
tinio

Hi shaun! Thanks for these. Well I have a simple problem

Hello,

I would like to know how to change the color of the font, because when I make my theme then upload and use it in my drupal the color is always pink. How can I customize this? Thanks Shaun. It's a great help for us! :)

Drupal issues

Hey Shaun, thanks for replying on such a short notice :)

I suppose that I've done everything as it was shown in your video, I mean I've pasted theme into drupal theme directory.

thanks

Drupal issues...

Hey everyone, I thought that it might be my bad that my custom theme doesn't work, but I've used your PSD and you know what? :) It doesn't work. I am a beginner, so maybe someone could enlighten me, what do I do wrong?

Hi kukaracha - How are you

Hi kukaracha -

Drupal issues

Yep, I have almost the same problem. I made a custom theme and when I upload it to drupal it just goes nuts. The only thing that is shown normally is content_drupal. I,m using 6.13 version of drupal, may problem be caused by difference in versions?

Hello everyone I've tried to

Hello everyone I've tried to modify your drupal theme and upload it to a drupal (6.12) installation. I've set it as a default theme and enable and it doesn't work I can only see the background (_bodybg), content_drupal , left_drupal other sections that I've added doesn't appear like the bg_center_jpg , or primarylinks_drupal. Then I've tried to upload your drupal online test theme unmodified and I have the same problem. Any ideas why?

Drupal Theme Generator

I've found that you have to go into your psd2css.css file and paste in the url for each layer other than the _drupal layers ie. background-image: url(Layer-3.png); just rename each layer based on what is in the value above and it works like a charm.

THE FIX FOR UNRECOGNIZED THEMES

as i have just read many of you are having the same problem i was having the other day , i contacted shaun and this is what he told me to do , and it worked for me
i am using version 6.14 , Shaun said they changed a few things

so here goes

take the csszip that the system creates for you and upload the zip itsself to your root drupal folder , " not the themes folder, the root folder" after the zip has been uploaded to your drupal "root" folder then extract the contents

Drupal with automaticly upload the theme files to the correct folders

so then when you visit your admin panel you can select your theme you just uploaded and extracted and the theme will work
i hope this helped you guys

thanks for the awesome work Shaun your a star
