Page Load Speed and Links Question

I have two questions.

1) It seems like both my navigation and main content background load slower than they should.
http://www.brownadvertising.com/Burchette/index.html
Is there a way to optimize this so it loads faster, or perhaps some pre-loading script that could help?

2) For some reason, certain links aren't working on the same site. For example, the Download our Free Catalog link doesn't work on this page: http://www.brownadvertising.com/Burchette/Pages/Contact/index.html

Also the email link on the same page. Any ideas?

Hi - 1) The biggest speed

Hi -

1) The biggest speed problem I see is the PNG that is main_center_bkgnd. I see that it has some transparency in the bottom portion of the image there. I would say change that layer to 'main_center_empty', and then make a new 'main_jpg_upper' for example for the majority of that image that has no transparency, and a new 'main_lower' for the bottom portion that does use the transparency

2) The 'testimonial lines' layer (Layer-8) is obscuring that link and the form, etc. You have that up on top of all the links. I would say just move that layer down in the stack. So much of the area of that PNG is fully transparent that visually it works there, but the fact is it covers those other layers. Imagine if it was fully opaque - you wouldn't be able to see the other layers.

So you could move it down so it's under any links.

Now having said that, it's a great big PNG and so pretty slow - so if you can merge it with the bigger layer behind it, which if you do #1 above for this page too would be 'main_upper_jpg', then you would get a big performance gain too.

And wow - excellent design, beautiful. Please consider adding it to the gallery when it's finished.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for the tips!

Thanks so much for the tips! I made the adjustments and it works perfectly now. I'll add to the gallery when finished.

Tks,
Neil
